The most POWERFUL New Year Resoultions

New Year is a time of reflection, when we tend to focus on what we don't wany anymore and focus or plan on what we do want.

We may want to lose some extra pounds, let go of that addiction , take up more healthy habits, get a new job, relationship, new home....

But why are so many New Year Resolutions never fully fulfilled or maintained past January never mind the rest of year.

No 1. So many New Year Resolutions are made from the wrong reasons. When we make New Year resolutions from fear, for other people, fot money or simply just to achieve or gain more we are coming from a place of lack. We are actually coming from a place of denial or negativity which brings up all sorts of self sabotaging behaviours.

No 2. So many New Year Resolutions are made without any sort of action plan or goal setting to make it happen. Maybe you want to have a new job by the end of the year. What are you going to do to make it happen what sort of goals do you have to make, what is your plan of action to open up yourself to new opportunities. A daily, weekly or monthly action plan gives you focus and helps you take necessary action, helps you seek out and become aware of new opportunities, helps you see clearly what you need to eliminate and what you need to increase in your life to make that resolution happen. It doesn't have to be inflexible but it has to help you move forward towards your goal.

No 3. So many New Year Resolutions are made without a clear motivating passion behind the goal. WHY? Why do you want to acheive this? What will this achievement give you? How will this achievement make you feel? How will it really improve your life, relationships, will it really make you more happy, more free..? There is no point setting a goal when you can't imagine the foreseeable benefits.

No 4. So many New Year Resolutions end as quickly as they started. Maybe this is the same goal you have had for the last 10 years, maybe you give up too quickly or listen to your inner critic or other people too much? Unhealthy and Distorted Negative Thinking is the biggest sabotageur of so many peoples dreams and life purpose. Create a support group of people who will help encourage and motivate you when you lose confidence, get a coach or counsellor to help you through the difficult issues that have been repeatedly holding you back. Become aware of your inner critic, make note of repetitive unhealthy thinking, use CBT skills to help change unhealthy thinking patterns. Remember each day is a new day, so if you slipped up yesterday there is always the next moment, next day...there is 365 days in the year for you to make new changes.

No 5. So many New Year Resolutions don't succeed because you try to do many changes at once. Make one change, one step at a time, the smallest changes are often the hugest changes. Don't try to give up too many addictions, unhealthy habits or complete life changes at the one time. For most people this is the biggest cause of failure it adds to much presssure, stress and chaos and leads up to no changes. What one change could be the most effective or what change is the most needed at this moment? Stick to ONE then move on to th next in a month or so.

The wisest most powerful New Year Resolutions are the one's that come from the heart, the ones that will help you experience more peace and calm in your life. They are driven from the heart and soul not from fear or the ego. Would you love some support to make those changes in 2016, get in contact.
